The Columbia Area College Campaign for The College Fund/UNCF will salute several outstanding supporters of the United Negro College Fund. The Eighth Annual Revival of the Mind 2019 Kickoff Campaign Luncheon will bring together educators, business, civic and political leaders in the Midlands community to raise funds and create awareness about the importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The affair will be held Monday, March 19, 2019 at 12 noon at Brookland Baptist Banquet and Convention Center, 1066 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia, South Carolina.
The College Fund/UNCF is a philanthropic organization that raises funds for college tuition, room and board, and books for more than 10,000 low and moderate-income students each year through 400 scholarship and internship programs. The organization helps to provide operating funds for its 38 member colleges, all private institutions that offer a small-college experience at tuitions that average more than 30% less than those at comparable colleges and universities.
Benedict College, Allen University, Claflin University, Morris and Voorhees Colleges are all member institutions, and receive financial support from The College Fund/UNCF.
The College Fund/ UNCF FACTS: Today, 60% of students supported by The College Fund/UNCF are the first in their families to attend college; 62% are from families with annual incomes of less than $25,000, and 92% qualify for financial aid.
HBCU Graduates Contribute to Communities- HBCUs, private and public, represent only three percent of all American colleges and universities, and enroll only 14% of all African American college students, but they have produced:
