BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Department of Engineering and Computer Science at Benedict College invites applications for full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Electrical Engineering beginning Fall 2024. We are seeking individuals with strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service to the community and the College. Candidates are expected to teach a wide range of introductory and upper-level courses such as circuits, electronics, control systems, digital signal processing, communications, systems and signals, power, VLSI, and electromagnetism, and be able to supervise students’ senior design projects. We are looking for individuals with significant design experience. Familiarity with ABET Requirements for accreditation and Canvas, our Learning Management System, are desirable. A doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
Applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor must demonstrate strong potential as an effective instructor and student mentor, and be able to obtain funding to support an undergraduate research program. Applicants for the rank of Associate Professor should have at least 3 years of experience as an effective instructor, mentor, and researcher by the start date of employment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
- Teach lower and upper-level electrical engineering courses, as well as general engineering courses, that align with professional expertise and the needs of the department;
- Participate in curriculum development and contribute to the department’s planning and growth;
- Advise students and providing individual help to students during weekly office hours;
- Provide academic and career advising to students in the major;
- Establish an active undergraduate research program;
- Perform regular scholarly research and publication;
- Assist with students recruitment and retention;
- Provide service to the department, school, college, community, and profession;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to teach lower and upper-level undergraduate electrical engineering courses
- Knowledge in pedagogy and teaching techniques for first-time college students and students from underserved populations;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Effective instructional delivery;
- Proficient in the use of instructional technology;
- Ability to actively engage students in the learning process;
- Ability to conduct respectful relationships with students both in and outside the classroom;
- Ability to work collegially and productively within the university community;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
