Burn is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Benedict College and is the Distinguished Military Graduate from USC Army ROTC
COLUMBIA, SC – May 10, 2019 – Today, Benedict College graduating senior 2nd Lieutenant Clifton J. Burns was commissioned at the University of South Carolina and voted the Top Cadet of the Gamecocks Battalion. He received the Distinguished Military Graduate from USC Army ROTC award. 2nd Lt Burns is the first Distinguished Military Graduate from Benedict College. 2nd Lt. Burns is graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors from Benedict College in Interdisciplinary Studies on Saturday, May 12.
The guest speaker for the Commissioning Ceremony was Retired Colonel Frank McClary. (pictured on the left) Colonel McClary is a 1986 graduate of Benedict College and is currently the newly elected Mayor of his hometown, Andrews, SC.
Dr. Bobby Donaldson will give the keynote address during the149th Commencement ceremony that will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at the Charlie W. Johnson stadium.
