At A Glance
- The Lawyers In Training or L.I.T. Summer Extended Learning Program is a summer experience launched by the Transforming Generations Outreach Center to enhance the college and career preparation of middle and high school students. The 2026 summer experience is being offered in collaboration and partnership with Benedict College for the second year in a row.
- The Lawyers In Training or L.I.T. Summer Extended Learning Program is uniquely designed for rising 7th through 12th graders. While the program is designed to provide valuable insight for students interested in becoming a lawyer, the curriculum is standards-based and strategically designed to bolster students’ reading, speaking, writing and critical thinking skills.
- The extended learning experiences are designed to provide a deeper glimpse of the various aspects of the life of an attorney. Last year, students were privileged to tour the Coroner’s Office, take a tour of the SC State House, hold a mock trial in the building of the University of South Carolina, as well as hear an authentic case at the South Carolina Supreme Court.
- Additionally, students were privileged to hear from several practicing attorneys from the Midlands area.
- The program is further designed to place an emphasis on faith and ethical responsibilities.
Curriculum and Extended Learning Experiences:
Students within the L.I.T. Summer Extended Learning Experience will receive reading and writing instruction from certified teachers. This is to ensure that the content reinforces the skills and standards that students will encounter in their academic studies.

Early registration starts March 23, 2026.

Registration Fee: $50/Total Cost of the Camp $300
