Welcome to the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Health Science. Our undergraduate academic programs in Chemistry, Physics, and Nationally accredited Environmental Health Science enable students to work with compassionate faculty and staff in a collaborative learning environment. Our expert faculty have earned terminal degrees at various institutions across the United States and abroad. The Department encourages and offers the opportunity to participate in faculty-directed hands-on research using state-of-the-art instruments and facilities. In addition, the Department offers a pre-pharmacy concentration under our chemistry program to prepare students planning for a professional pharmacy career. The coursework includes all prerequisite courses with a strong focus on chemistry and other sciences recommended by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.Â
The Department offers two minors in chemistry and physics for students majoring in other disciplines. The Department also offers an Associate of Science Chemistry Pre-Pharmacy Concentration to prepare students who desire to pursue a healthcare career in pharmacy through an accelerated pathway to transfer and succeed in acceptance to an accredited pharmacy school.Â
As department members, our scholars gain a firm foundation through coursework and the scientific training and research experience necessary for employment or graduate education. Our curriculum, small class size, and hands-on approach to learning are both exciting and challenging.Â
Recent scholars completing our Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Health Science programs are admitted to graduate schools, leading to a Ph.D. degree and securing employment with state or local government agencies, laboratories, and pharmaceutical industries. Â Â
