Mamie L. Duckett Award
The Mamie L. Duckett Award is one of the highest honors the College bestows upon a distinguished member of the church community. Mrs. Duckett was a faithful faculty member who exhibited a commitment to the church and to educating students at Benedict College.Â
General Criteria/Guidelines for selection of the Mamie L. Duckett Award Recipient
- The nominee must be a person from the church community. This does not preclude an alumnus, be he/she must be active and prominent as a participant in the church community.
- The nominee must have provided outstanding service to Benedict College and to the community and/or provided service that appreciably benefitted Benedict College and the wider community.
- The nominee must have bee a consistent financial contributor to the College and/or been instrumental in causing financial contributions to be made to the College.
- The nominee must have exhibited support for both Christian education and higher education (seminary, church Christian education ministry, student sponsorship-scholarship-mentoring-tutoring, etc.).
- The nominee must be an advocate of good will for the College, and be willing to use time and talents on behalf of the College (recruiting, outreach programs, on campus activities, etc.).
- Members of the Benedict College Board of Trustees and person to whom Benedict has awarded honorary degrees shall not be eligible to receive this award.
Nomination and Selection Procedure
- In the absence of a Nomination Form, the submitter shall submit a letter with the following information:
- Name of the individual being recommended for the award.
- Reason the submitter feels the nominee should receive the award. The reason(s) should address the items in the criteria/guidelines for selection of the recipient.
- Signature of the submitter, name of church affiliation, and name of association affiliation.
- Attach a copy of the nominee’s resume/biographical sketch.
- Send the nomination form/letter of nomination to the following address:
