Columbia, SC, November 24, 2025, In a powerful demonstration of giving back, Jeremiah Dixon, owner of Gentle Care & Comfort Home Care, LLC, donated $2,000 to establish a student scholarship at the Burroughs School of Business & Entrepreneurship. The gift was presented during a celebratory Gala marking the 5th anniversary of his business. The donation will directly support student success and advance the Burroughs School’s mission to nurture the next generation of business leaders.
“Benedict College and its support network helped me believe I could be more than just a business owner, that I could be a difference-maker,” said Dixon. “I have grown through mentorship, education, and faith, and now I want to help students who just needs that one open door. This scholarship is about creating opportunity.”
Dixon is a current tenant in the Small Business Incubator at the Burroughs Business Development Center, where he has been mentored by Renee Joye, the Center’s director.
“Watching Jeremiah grow to this level of impact has been inspiring,” said Joye. “This gift is a full-circle moment, an entrepreneur giving back to the community that believed in him. It is exactly what we hope for in our entrepreneurs: growth with purpose.”
The donation was received by Dr. Tracy Dunn, Dean of the Burroughs School of Business & Entrepreneurship, during the Gala celebration.
“Mr. Dixon’s generosity is deeply appreciated. Our entrepreneurship program is the premier HBCU program in the state, and this scholarship represents a sound investment in our talent,” said Dr. Dunn. “Beyond easing the financial burden for a student, it will inspire our students to view philanthropy as an important part of leadership.”
The scholarship will be awarded during the upcoming academic year to a business student demonstrating academic promise and a commitment to entrepreneurship.
