A Message from the President
As I reflect on the audacious vision, generosity, and courage of our founder, Bathsheba A. Benedict, I am inspired to continue taking bold steps to propel Benedict College into the next era of excellence. For over 154-years this remarkable institution has served as a beacon of light and a pathway to prosperity for minority students, the nation, and the global community.
Our exceptional students, increasing graduation rates, expanding research capacity, unique programs of study, athletic competitiveness, and family environment, fuel our commitment and vision to prioritize Benedict College’s future. With this goal in mind, we have set a course of action that will actualize this important and momentous charge.
The FOCUS on the FUTURE Campaign for Benedict College is centered on areas that are aligned with our B2 Strategic Plan and are critical to the advancement of College:
- Financial Stability and Growth – We are cultivating strategic partnerships and initiatives that advance new revenue streams while implementing optimal financial practices that ensure the College’s financial security to support our mission and the full scope of Benedict programs and services.
- Undergraduate and Graduate Education – We are developing and maintaining high quality academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs and producing professionally competent, well-rounded and civic-minded graduates prepared to compete in an increasingly complex marketplace.
- Environmental Health – We are developing and maintaining a working, living, and learning environment that is supportive of students, faculty, and staff and welcoming to the outside community by expanding, protecting and caring for the College’s physical and human resources.
Our campaign compels us to focus on opportunities and to imagine the possibilities for our students, as we aim to provide them with a transformative learning environment. This campaign will increase Benedict’s modest endowment, address deferred maintenance issues and modernize the campus. Additionally, we will provide a new music academic complex for our talented students and the surrounding community to convene and learn.
