Negash Begashaw

I am currently a full professor in the Department of Mathematics at Benedict College. I earned my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, a Doctor of Natural Science in Computational Mathematics from the University of Vienna in Austria, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics/Optimization from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, completing these degrees in 1979, 1982, 1993, and 1997, respectively.

My research interests encompass the design, analysis, and computational study of optimization algorithms, applied problems in optimization and operations research, machine learning problems in areas such as biological systems and material science, as well as applications in connected and autonomous vehicles and topological data analysis. I have mentored numerous students and have authored or co-authored several research articles.
