Columbia, SC – August 11, 2025 – Benedict College announced today the appointment of Ms. Terri Hooper as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). With more than 17 years of experience in the field, Ms. Hooper brings a strong foundation in strategic human resources leadership, compliance, employee development, and organizational growth.

She brings valuable experience in designing and implementing HR policies and procedures that support both organizational goals and employee success.”
In her new role at Benedict College, Ms. Hooper will lead the Human Resources unit and oversee a wide range of critical functions including employment, recruitment, on boarding, position management, payroll and compensation, compliance, policy development, insurance, and workforce development. She will work closely with the College’s General Counsel and the President’s Executive Cabinet to align HR strategies with institutional goals.
A native of Edgefield, South Carolina, Ms. Hooper holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice Administration from Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC, and a Master of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC.
Prior to joining Benedict College, Ms. Hooper had a distinguished career with the City of Columbia, where she served in various capacities before retiring in 2021. Throughout her tenure, she was recognized for her expertise in designing and implementing Human Resources policies that effectively balanced organizational objectives with the needs of employees.
