Benedict College Achieves Record Enrollment for Fall 2024

The Tigers Celebrate at 31.4% increase in First -Time, First Year Students

Columbia, SC, September 9, 2024 – Benedict College is pleased to announce significant growth in new student enrollment for the Fall 2024 academic semester, marking the highest new student enrollment since the Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 554 new students have enrolled at Benedict College, an increase of 18.4% from the previous year.

This year’s incoming class includes 419 first-time, first-year students, a remarkable 31.4% increase from 338 in Fall 2023. These numbers represent a three-year high and reflect the success of Benedict College’s strategic enrollment initiatives.

“We are very proud of the efforts of our Admissions and Recruitment team, as well as the collaborative work across campus that has contributed to this enrollment milestone,” said Yohannis Job, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Benedict College. “Our commitment to providing access to quality education, combined with our focus on student success, has resonated with students and families. This growth is a reflection of what we stand for—#TheBESTofBC and represents our commitment to excellence in every aspect of the institution.”

In addition to the increase in new students, Benedict College continues to attract a diverse and vibrant student body. This year, students have come from 25 states, reaching from the Carolinas to California and as far North as Connecticut and as far South as the U.S. Virgin Islands. The class also includes students from Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan and Massachusetts.

Additionally, the College is proud to welcome students from the Bahamas, Kenya, and Barbados. Approximately 57% of the new student population hails from the state of South Carolina, further affirming Benedict College’s commitment to serving the educational needs of its home state while maintaining a global perspective.
