Additional Artists join 803 Fresh and Zacardi Cortez at the 37th Annual Harambee Festival

Columbia’s Day of Culture, Community, and Celebration of the Arts

Columbia, SC, April 6, 2026 – Benedict College proudly announces additional performers for the 37th Annual Harambee Festival, one of the Midlands’ most anticipated cultural celebrations, set for Saturday, April 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.

Recognized as Columbia’s Best Neighborhood Festival, the Harambee Festival continues its legacy of uniting the community through music, culture, family fun, and vital resources. This year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages.

Festivalgoers can look forward to a dynamic lineup of live entertainment, including nationally acclaimed gospel artist Zacardi Cortez, will deliver a powerful and uplifting performance. The stage will also feature inspiring performances by Kristen Jamison of Sunday Best, Benedict College’s own Regina Skeeters, and the Bible Way Church Children’s Choir, and a special family-friendly appearance by Megan Piphus, nationally acclaimed ventriloquist and puppeteer of Sesame Street.

Enjoy non-stop entertainment with the Benedict College Marching Band of Distinction, David Bratton and Jason Clayborn direct the Benedict College Gospel and Harambee Festival Community Choir, the Music Area’s Student Talent Showcase, and the Ly-Ben Dancers. Please come early to witness the spectacular opening ceremony at 9:30 am.

Headlining the event is Southern Soul favorite 803 Fresh, known for the hit Boots on the Ground, setting the tone for an energetic line dance celebration to cap off the day’s festivities.

The Harambee Festival Community Choir Concert will be held Sunday, April 19th at 3:00 p.m. in Antisdel Chapel. David Bratton and Jason Clayborn will direct the choirs in an uplifting concert.

In addition to live entertainment, attendees will enjoy:

  • A vibrant food and merchandise village featuring local vendors
  • A Children’s Village with education and scientific activities, bounce houses and interactive activities
  • FREE medical screenings and fresh food giveaways (while supplies last)
